While here, Ray treated her like a queen, as she should be treated. Sally then asked him to move to Florida to be with her. He soon accepted the invitation and left shortly thereafter. Ray had left here to be with Sally, the woman of his dreams, a nightmare in my opinion. He moved from a nice apartment and good paying job, to sleeping on the couch in his girlfriend’s house; while she shared her bed with her ex-husband. He would spend his days taking care of the house, Sally and her son. At one point he commented to me that his life there was much like the life of a butler, living in poverty. Sally, you see, had been given everything she ever asked for, from Ray, while here. But once she returned home, the roles were reversed and she did not feel the need to reciprocate any of nice things that Ray had done for her. He would still do everything for her because that is just the kind of guy Ray is. He soon realized that he too had been in a toxic relationship. He recently moved back to Maryland, after a sixth month stay in Florida with Sally. There are many reasons why people decide to stay in a toxic relationship. A couple reasons may be fear of being alone, or personal insecurities. According to â€Å"The National Center for Health Statistics,† the top five, leading causes of death in the United States are:   1. Heart Disease kills 651,696 each year.   2.   Malignant Neoplasms or Cancer kills 559,228 each year.   3.   Cerebrovascular Disease or strokes kills 143,449 each year.   4.   Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease including chronic bronchitis, emphysema and asthma kills 130,896 each year.   5.   Unintentional injury kills 116,669 each year. (WISQARS Leading Causes of Death Report, 2008) Gender, family history and race are contributing factors that will help determine whether or not we acquire any of these diseases.   A lifetime of unhealthy living is also a contributor. There are also some less conventional methods of disease prevention.   Many people take vitamin supplements regularly to insure that they are getting enough of the vitamins that they need.   Meditation and other spiritual activities are practiced in order to control the stress in ones life.   Education is also an important prevention measure and it’s never too young to start.  Ã‚   Healthy children are more likely to maintain a healthy lifestyle in adulthood.   Prevention is not a guarantee against diseases, but it can certainly make a difference in our quality of life as well as the length of our life. Industrial Revolution (Extra Credit) The era known as the Industrial Revolution was a period in which fundamental changes occurred in agriculture, textile, metal manufacture, transportation, economic policies and the social structure in England. This period is appropriately labeled â€Å"revolution,† for it thoroughly changed the old manner of doing things and bringing up new techniques. Constantly improving the ways in which things were made, which had effects of cutting costs and improving quality and efficiency was revolutionary about the era. The changes that occurred during this period occurred gradually. Industrial Revolution did not happen suddenly; it happened spread out the centuries. It wasn’t only inventions but mostly improvement and new techniques to present inventions. Advances in agricultural techniques and practices resulted in an increased supply of food and raw materials, changes in industrial organization and new technology resulted in increased production, efficiency and profits, and th e increase in commerce, foreign and domestic, were all conditions which promoted the advent of the Industrial Revolution. The improved yield of the agricultural sector can be attributed to the enclosure movement and to improved techniques and practices developed during this period. A common practice in early agriculture was to allow the land to lie fallow after it had been exhausted through cultivation. Later it was discovered that the cultivation of clover and other legumes would help to restore the fertility of the soil. Prior to 1760 the manufacture of textiles occurred in the homes, by people who gave part of their time to it. It was a tedious process from raw material to finished product. Many of the stages of production were performed by women and children. The supply of raw material for the woolen industry was obtained domestically. In the cases of silk and cotton, the raw materials were obtained from foreign sources, such as, China, the West Indies, North American and Africa . John Kay’s flying-shuttle, which enabled one weaver to do the work of two, and Richard Arkwright’s roller spinner, which was to make spinning more efficient and James Hargreaves’ jenny, a device which enabled the operator to simultaneously spin dozens of threads, was readily adopted. Arkwright and others developed the water frame. Coal was the one of the most important material during Industrial Revolution. It was the black gold of the eighteenth century. Underground mining was extremely dangerous and risky. Improvements in coal mining came in the form of improved tunnel ventilation, improved underground and surface transportation, and the use of gunpowder to blast away at the coal seams, and improved tunnel illumination through the use of lamps.

Unlike the nomadic life of the Old Stone Age, the New Stone Age was the dawning of settled life. People lived more towards lakes and river instead of caves and tree trunks. The change in environment led to the change of jobs, society, and culture. Neolithic everyday objects reveal that fishing and hunting were the main occupations of the people. Neolithic art is represented by a large number of objects found in isolated areas in Eastern Europe, Siberia and Central Asia. Neolithic people decorated clay water vessels in a wide variety of ways that were very large and colorful. They also created bone, horn and wooden figurines of people and animals. The Earliest Neolithic pottery found in Siberia and Central Asia is similar to pottery found in northern Britain, suggesting that early Neolithic colonist may have come to Ireland from northern Britain. The pottery bowls were made by winding coils of clay in a circle to form the sides of the bowl, smoothing them, and finally firing them on an open fire.
